Let's Get Political

The results of this quiz accurately reflect my civic engagement because I am a person who doesn’t like politics so much and results prove this. I probably call my political engagement as a spectator which reflects exactly the results of quiz because I am weekly focused on political and current events.

It is something important to be aware of the country which we are living in so I believe that we should know some features belong our country’s political issues. Voting may seem the most significant thing but it is not the only thing for being civically engaged. We can do many things such as joining a demonstration, organizing a public event or motivating your friends in politics by set up a table at public events and provide information to get civically engaged. I attended a demonstration when I was in high school. My school chose me to attend. Demonstration is about the 'Politics in Turkey.’ First I didn’t want to go but after joining I start to look different at everything including politics. In this way I feel I am engaged.

Skeptics would rather not be civically engaged according to this: Skeptics are the ones who don’t like to watch TV, read newspaper to learn about politics and current events. Some people in democracy don’t give importance to be civically engaged for some reasons. For example it can be about their beliefs. They can find many things meaningless that can be a reason them to don’t participate. I think there should be more advertisements about being civically engaged. For me, people should be encouraged more. Increasing advertisements and changing ads contents will get people more involved in politics including me.

Activists are the people who want to take charge and become leader and they are most likely to affect positive change through the democratic process. If every individual becomes an activist there will be confusion among people that’s why I believe that it is actually undesirable to have many activist citizens. I believe all different three segments (skeptics, spectators and activists) should be distributed equally for a better future. To contribute democracy, these three segments have an important role because they complement each other’s shortcomings.
