In today’s world
people want to influence the others with their physical appearances so
advertisements prepared by this features. If we analyze this image we can see
that actually there is class distinction. We all know that people are different
from each other such as their incomes are different. Everyone cannot buy this
New Sultan Mattress Collection. So the people who cannot buy, can look like the
left one which can make them (mostly women) feel underestimate.
This is Ikea’s
message and created by Ikea’s advertising department. This is a strong image to
influence people by highlighting “Beauty”.
The target audience
is for everyone who wants to sleep in a high quality bed but this image is
basically for women who give importance to their physical appearance. Generally
adolescence period women start to look themselves much more, so starting from
the age of 16 every women care their beauty. People who care comfort a lot are
the ones who will interest in this image the most.
We see a short written
sentence and two photos, to make the advertisement much more powerful. Also,
there is an obvious design that the image divided two sides to show the effect
of how a bed can make huge changes in beauty.
I think the hidden
message is “If you don’t sleep well and comfortable way, you may not feel well
and become unhealthy and this can make your life harder”. So, they are trying
to persuade us to buy their new collection which will make us to feel
beautiful.
This is a lifestyle
which is totally desired by people because as we can see in the image if we
sleep in a good mattress we can wake up healthy and adapt to the daily life
everything much more easily.
Values are
expressed in a significant way. Using beautiful word is the strongest value to
influence people generally women. Women is the ones who care themselves most so
Ikea used two woman picture and want to show us how can be different a women
who sleeps well and who doesn’t sleep well.
There isn’t used
any tool. Instead of tools they prefer to use peoples physical appearance to
make it more realistic.
“Sleeping well
makes you healthier” message is presented in this image as a positive message.
Showing the differences between two pictures we can understand the negative
message which is: Sleeping less is harmful for our body.
There is a missing part in this image. They didn’t tell us how many
hours we should sleep in new mattress collection to become beautiful. They only wrote about “sleep well,
become beautiful” but it’s important for us to know the time interval. We can
get the information time interval by the doctor’s, television or internet.
